Radha Nair trained as a lawyer at Kings College (LLB) and University College London (LLM) and the College of Law London (Solicitors Examinations 1988).  She then spent 20 years working in the charity and development sector focussing on civil society development, governance and access to justice. 

She worked for 17 years with the British Council as a Programme Manager in Africa and in the UK and 6 years working with the UN on joint relief, recovery and development planning for the Somalia programme. She is an experienced designer and implementer of large and small scale, complex development projects and has been trained in key skills including project and programme management, consultancy, monitoring and evaluation and how to influence people.

She has spent the last 8 years at the British Council as Director Active Citizens during which time she designed and developed a ground breaking flagship programme addressing marginalization and conflict in society with a focus on developing social leadership in young people. The programme has been successfully delivered in over 40 diverse countries and regions around the world including Pakistan, Syria, Kenya, South Sudan, the UK, the USA funded by the British Council, the FCO, DFID, the EU, the UN, OSI and the private sector.
