Shobna Chakravarti

Shobna Chakravarti is a lawyer in Harare, Zimbabwe and member of the Bar of England & Wales. After practicing as a state prosecutor in Harare in the 80s, Ms Chakravarti developed expertise as a Grants and Contract expert with over 30 years of experience. In this field, she has managed grants/contracts for multi-donor projects, compliance, monitoring, program management, and administration for both public and non-profit sectors.

She has 20 years of experience in the area of democracy and governance, holding senior level positions with USAID and local NGOs in the East and South Africa region, including Zimbabwe, providing the overall management and supervision of complex programs, including but not limited to donor coordination and liaison, programs implementation, proposal development, work planning, supervising of staff; monitoring and evaluation, legal advice, review and writing of reports. In 2014, she established ‘Justice 4 All’ as a trust to provide free legal aid services to remand/pre-trial detainees. Ms Chakravarti holds an LLM, (University of London, UK), LLB (University of Warwick, UK) and is a member of Lincoln’s Inn in London.
